The café and the roaster share one room on the east side. If we're roasting when you come in, you'll smell it before you see it.
The roaster usually runs Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. That's the best time to come if you want to watch a batch — or the worst, if you wanted a quiet corner to read. Your call.
Saturdays at 10:00 we open up the roaster end of the room for about forty minutes — green coffee, the drum, how a batch goes from grassy to drinkable, and a cupping of whatever came off the cooling tray that week. No charge, no booking; just turn up a few minutes early. Groups larger than six, send us a note first so we don't crowd the floor.
We're a block off the streetcar line and an easy walk from the central east side. Street parking is free after the morning rush and there's a lot behind the building on weekends. Bikes can lock up out front under the awning, out of the rain.
